Posted by Troy Stoops on 9/17/2019 1:00:00 AM

Stoops' Scoop  Hello Mt. Angel School District students, staff, parents and community members.  This is my first attempt at providing a weekly district newsletter, Stoops' Scoop.  One of my superintendent goals recently approved by the school board, includes increased communications of district activities to all stakeholders.  The Scoop will cover a variety of topics in an effort to help the Mt. Angel Community have a better understanding of district operations, successes and challenges.  If you want to hear about any specific topics, I encourage you to send me a message.  My contact information is at the bottom of this Scoop.

We have a name!  A big thank you to all the staff, students and community members who submitted suggestions to consider for naming the stadium/field at John F. Kennedy High School.  A committee made up of Kennedy High School alumni and community members reviewed suggestions from over 80 submissions to make the final recommendation.  The name will be officially revealed at the Homecoming Football game on October 10, 2019, during halftime.  Please plan to join us for this time of recognition and celebration.

  • School Board welcomes two new members

Posted by Troy Stoops on 7/9/2019 3:00:00 AM

Mt. Angel School District swore in two new board members at the regular board meeting on July 8, 2019.  Teresa Kinkaid and John Conklin were both elected for their positions during the May 21, 2019 Special District County Elections.  Each member will serve a 4-year term and join three other members, Rod Hill, Shari Riedman and Greg Traeger.  Shari Riedman was selected to serve as Chair of the board for the 2019-2020 school year, and Greg Traeger as Vice Chair.  In other board business, the board approved a 2-year contract with Mt. Angel School District Classified Employees that included cost of living increases of 2.5% in 2019-20 and 2.0% in 2020-21.  The contract also includes an additional personal leave day, longevity increase for staff employed for 15 or more years, cell phones for bus drivers, and increases to multiple classifications to be more compareable with surrounding and like districts.  A copy of the contract can be found at this link Classified Employees Contract .
