State assessments provide valuable information about how well our students are meeting grade-level learning standards. These assessments help families, educators, and the district understand student progress, identify areas of strength, and target areas where additional support may be needed. The results are used to guide instruction, improve programs, and ensure that every student has access to a high-quality education. On this page, you’ll find key information about testing dates and grade-level assessments.

ODE Statewide Assessments
The Oregon State Assessment System (OSAS) are standardized, computer-based assessments required by the state of Oregon for all students in grades 3-8 and grade 11. These summative assessments used for accountability are customized for the needs of Oregon students.
Additional required assessments include an English language proficiency assessment for English learners (ELs) and the Oregon Extended Assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The Student Educational Equity Development (SEED) Survey gathers information about the educational experiences of students in Oregon in grades 3-11.
Oregon Extended (ORExt)
An Alternate version of the OSAS (ORExt) is available for students experiencing the most significant cognitive disabilities. It may be administered in lieu of the standard assessments if it is specified in the student's IEP (Individualized Education Program).
