Child Find

Child Find is a legal requirement that schools find all children who have disabilities and who may be entitled to special education and related services. Child Find covers every child from birth through age 21. The school must locate, evaluate and serve children who have needs in the area of cognitive, motor, social, behavior, speech/ language, hearing, or vision.

Birth to 5 Years of Age

For children between birth and five years of age who are suspected of having needs in one or more of the above listed areas, contact Erica Gordon at 503-845-2345 or by email at erica.gordon@masd91.org

Kindergarten to 21 Years of Age

For students from Kindergarten through age 21 may qualify as a student with a disability in one (or more) of Oregon's twelve eligibility categories. Each student is evaluated using multiple measures by a multidisciplinary team, following a standardized process outlined by the IDEA. If you suspect your child as a disability that is adversely affecting their education, please contact your neighborhood school or contact the District's Special Education Director Erica Gordon at 503-845-2345 or by email at erica.gordon@masd91.org

Under the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 2004, the Oregon Department of Education publishes an annual Special Education report card as part of the State Performance Plan. Additionally, OAR 581-022-2267 requires each entity that has jurisdiction over a public education program to prepare and submit an annual report detailing the use of restraint and seclusion for the preceding school year to ODE. You can see Mt. Angel School District's Special Education Report Card as well as the most recent Restraint & Seclusion reports by clicking on the links below.

If you have any questions about either report, you can contact Erica Gordon at 503-845-2345.

IDEA Transition Services

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 requires the consideration of transition needs for students beginning not later than the first IEP to be in effect when the student is 16, and updated annually thereafter. Transition services are an integral part of the student's education plan and are designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living.
