Dear Families, Students, Staff and Community Members,

We are thankful for you!

Last Friday night's graduation at JFK was a joyful celebration of our students' hard work, growth, and achievements. It was also a time to honor the invaluable support of families, loved ones, and the dedicated staff who helped guide them along the way.

During the ceremony, a prayer was offered by a member of the clergy-this did not align with our school district's commitment to and standard of inclusivity. The moment unintentionally caused discomfort for some in our community, and  we are truly mindful of that impact.  The Mt. Angel school district did not coordinate this; we were unaware this would occur.

In a public school setting, especially at milestone events like graduation, it's essential that all students and families feel equally seen, valued, and celebrated.

We remain committed to ensuring that every school event reflects the diverse beliefs and practices of our community and honors our responsibility, as a public institution, to create inclusive spaces where all individuals feel respected and valued.

We appreciate your continued support and trust, and we remain dedicated to learning, listening, and growing together.

With Respect,

Rachel Stucky
