Dear Mt. Angel Families, Students, Staff, and Community Members,

I write this message to express gratitude to the community members who have attended our first bond forum, presentations, and school tours.

I consider voting to be one of the most important rights and responsibilities that we have in our country and there is satisfaction in knowing that those in attendance at the events we have hosted are informed of the facts in preparation for voting.

In the past several weeks there have been excellent questions posed about the proposed bond. I would encourage you to see the list of questions, as well as the answers to them on our website. You can find them under the heading of Facilities/Bond Info and the subset of Frequently Asked Questions. Here is the link to that information as well as many other documents: https://www.masd91.org/facilitybond-info/bond-faq

Here are some examples of what has been recently asked:

Are we at the industry average for dollars budgeted for building maintenance and upkeep based on the number of buildings and enrollment? If so or not, what is the plan for upkeep of our schools if the bond passes or is voted down?

What is the planned savings from the upgraded utilities? Will these savings be reinvested back into building maintenance?

If my home's assessed value goes up, does that mean the payment on the bond would be higher. Also, what happens conversely if the assessed value goes down?

Please feel free to take a look at school district responses. In addition, if you have a question to pose, you are welcome to submit that question to me at rachel.stucky@masd91.org. or to call me at 503-845-2345. All questions and the responses will be posted at our Frequently Asked Questions section.

If you still have questions, even concerns, that need to be addressed, you may want to consider attending our Bond Forum next Tuesday evening at JFK in the front commons area from 6:30 to 7:30. I expect to address challenging questions that evening. Please join us.

Sincerely,

Rachel Stucky
Superintendent
