Dear Mt. Angel Families, Students, Staff, and Community Members,

Another successful school year has drawn to a close. It has been an outstanding school year of achievements due to great kids, wonderful families and caregivers, amazing staff, and a thoughtful Board of Directors.

This past year has been filled with celebrations and achievements. Here are a few: The class of 2024 recently graduated having accumulated more than $300,000 in scholarships. The new welding room at JFK was heavily utilized—so much so that the number of class offerings next year will double. Also, 27 students from our three schools were recognized at school board meetings this year for accomplishments in effort, service, leadership, and/or achievement!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and your patience, both of which have been instrumental as we worked through big changes this school year. This has included the addition of two new principals. We have an incredible administration team who are dedicated to academic excellence and student well-being. Also appreciated is your interest and questions about bond work. There will be a lot of activity in each of our three schools this summer. Be on the lookout for building walkthrough invitations this summer and make sure to check out our Bond updates on our website.

We experience a stable budget due to tight procedures and continuous monitoring of funds. While our budget is routinely tight, it is not compromised. Our budget is on target for the 2023-2024 school year. With revenue received higher than budgeted, projected at about 108% to goal, and expenditures less than budgeted, about 90% to budget, our ending fund balance for 2023-2024 is healthy. The increased ending fund balance was especially important in planning for the 2024-2025 budget, allowing us to move forward into the next school year with no cuts. Our schools will remain fully staffed .

Now that we have reached the end of another successful year, I’ll take this opportunity to express my wishes to you for a fabulous summer. Remember that learning happens everywhere and the world is our classroom. Whether you read, work, travel, rest, or try new things, make every day count and enjoy your family time. Stay safe, stay curious and stay connected. We eagerly await your return in September—a new year filled with possibilities and new adventures.
