The Oregonian Cup began in 1999 as a way to recognize overall excellence by schools in academics, activities and athletics. The Oregonian began sponsoring the award in February 2002. The award honors a school's students, teachers, coaches and the entire school community.  Public schools in the 2A Classification have only been awarded this Cup four times in the past 18 years, Kennedy High School is two of the four.  I would like to recognize Principal Sean Aker and Athletic Director Kevin Moffatt for their leadership and their commitment to "Inspire, Challenge and Support" our students in all aspects of their education while at Kennedy.  I want to also extend a thank you to all the parents, district staff, coaches, youth coaches, Booster Club, and community supporters who provide opportunities for our students to realize their potential.  A special thank you to Randy Traeger, long time coach and founder of Virtue First.  Coach Traeger set the standard for sportsmanship and building of character in Mt. Angel School District that continues to thrive and prepare our students for personal, athletic and academic success.  And finally, thank you to all the students, past and present, who are represented in this honored award.
